OUR PROCESS

The forest near Charlotte, NC where Harper’s Firewood begins its process of providing seasoned, local firewood.

At Harper’s Firewood, all of our wood is locally sourced from two family-owned farms in the Charlotte and Midland area. We primarily use premium hardwoods such as oak, ash, hickory, and maple, and mix in smaller amounts of specialty woods.

Every log is carefully seasoned and/or kiln-dried to reach a targeted moisture content of 10–15%, ensuring clean, efficient burning that produces steady heat and a cozy flame—perfect for your home.

OUR STORY

Harper’s Firewood was founded in 2012 by an amazing young man named Austin Harper, who started the business with a close friend and a simple goal—to provide quality firewood and friendly service to the Charlotte community. With permission from the Head of School at Dore Academy, they sold firewood on weekends at the school’s former Providence Road site, where they built a loyal customer base and lasting relationships that continue to this day.

In 2024, Austin partnered with Jim Kelligrew and Tripp Wilson to officially establish Harper’s Firewood LLC, with the shared vision of growing the business through exceptional service and reliable, seasoned and kiln-dried firewood at a fair price.
